Meanwhile my EAP 670 wireless AP which I've been in love with failed after an unnecessary firmware update I did because I was worried at one point it might be the source of the hack.
Specifically the 5GHz mode just stopped working. No explanation. No "WARNING: 5GHz DISABLED" or even a grayed out disabled checkbox, the AP claimed to be doing 5GHz but wasn't.
Fixed by manually selecting a channel and channel size. But... not going to recommend that AP any more. I just seem to have the worst luck with tech right now.
But another reason why I hate doing software updates. IMO every software update should be reversible. Think it's bad for security if people can restore older versions Think how many don't update to newer versions because they're worried it might break something. I bet that's far more than the number of people who'd intentionally install an older version for no reason.
