8 Years in my Current Company

At the beginning of the month, a colleague reminded me that I had been with the company for 8 years now! A little anniversary! I reflected about the past years when at the same time a recruiter message reached me, what my motivation would be to leave my comfort zone.

Before being here, I changed jobs about every 2 years. The team was always great super lovely people that I still miss, but I felt like I couldnt improve anymore, I felt stuck and I felt like I wasnt adding value to the company any more and I then did the necessary steps.

It was the first time I joined a larger corporation. And obviously something was different here otherwise I wouldnt have stayed so long, right So I started reflecting what I did all those years long. Was it worth staying Am I, perhaps, settling into a comfort zone

The Register: Meta's plan to erase 5% of workforce starts today

Its expected for management to not understand some technical implications, but what surprised me is how engineers in the past, who moved to management, eventually forget the complexity of the job and only remember how everything is possible and potentially easy to do.

These real life analogies always put a smile on my face, once they make things hard to explain so obvious and ridiculous.

Abandoned AWS S3 buckets are a major cyber risk! Researchers re-registered abandoned S3 buckets and in just two months they received 8 million requests. Attackers could easily exploit these forgotten assets to distribute malware or launch cyberattacks.

Read the details:

Meta's plan to erase 5% of workforce starts today

'Intense year' ahead, warned Zuck. Got to spend billions on AI and work to stay out of Trump's bad books Meta has confirmed to The Register that today marks the start of a mass redundancy process with thousands of workers getting the chop.

I read a comment on Slashdot that hit too close to home. In essence: current conditions are like a third Industrial Revolution, and the tech jobs destroyed won't return even when tanks. It's analogous to all the delusional people who think factory will return to America. (They won't. Companies open factories with high levels of automation in America.)

Nobody's coming to save us.

Is this a coordinated effort If so, what is the goal

Just a technical question. I am running a server at home with GoToSocial and Pixelfed. This is running super, only my internet connection has a dynamic IP address. Every day around the same time it changes. I notice that after this IP change it takes a while (10min) before GoToSocial and Pixelfed are available again. Can this hurt as far as federation is concerned Or will other servers find my server stupid

Even een technische vraag.
