I know folks who are trying to recompile (no not porting straight recompiling) Fortran 2003 code that used to run on a Linux cluster on an nVIDIA Jetson. I know of non-technical managers instructing their CRUD programmers (who have no experience with SBC, SOC, MCU, FPGA, ASIC, etc.) to "look into" using HDLs and generating FPGAs.
Such activities sprang from a mistaken belief by CRUD programmers that they understand low-power electronics design and implementation (a task performed by an experienced ), and that conventional CPU-based approach can be transported to FPGA and ASIC unaltered.
