I find it alarming that todays technical managers are devoid of skills to conduct effective technical interviews, especially of senior-level candidates. The most disturbing aspect is their infantile interviewing style which invariably devolves into them trying to shade the candidate, instead of assessing the candidates capabilities and personality. And these managers focus entirely on what the candidate already knew, but not at all on how the candidate learns and adapts.
At their experience level, these managers ought to realise that an interview is not a competition it is a fitness assessment. I worry that this lot is now leading my beloved industry into the future.
